Mumbai: Today, even a tot is aware of martyrs like ATS chief Hemant Karkare, Encounter Specialist Vijay Salaskar and Mumbai Police Commissioner Ashok Kamte who sacrificed their lives so that we could live. But how many of us are aware of the brave policemen who were the key persons behind the arrest of Azam Amir Kasav, the interrogation of whom is a mine of information now.
Read on.. how the brave officers, Assistant Sub-inspector, Tukaram Omble and Sub-inspector Bhaskar Kadam fought to capture the terrorist, Kasav. Soon after the terrorists struck the commercial city, Mumbai on Nov 26, Tukaram was asked to rush to Marine Drive. Within minutes he saw the skoda hijacked by terrorists whizz along.
The very next second Tukaram flung himself on a motorcycle and chased the skoda. By then, the car had crashed against the roadblock in Chowpatty and the terrorists fired at the Policeman. Tukaram, then jumped off his bike and dived on the car’s rear window.
Azam Amir Kasav who was in the car lowered the glass and fired at Tukaram. Even after getting pumped by bullets, Tukaram was undeterred. He still clinged on to the barrel of the car, enabling sub-inspector Bhaskar Kadam to arrest Kasav.
Meanwhile, Tukaram succumbed to his injuries. Salute to the unsung hero.
